On the evening of February 29th, the 7th International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair (ISRMWR) Forum on Regenerative Medicine, along with the 2024 International Regenerative Medicine Day banquet, commenced with great significance in Los Angeles, USA. The event continued to honor the remarkable contributions of Professor Rongxiang Xu in the field of regenerative medicine and showcased the legacy and development of regenerative medicine under the efforts of the Rongxiang Xu Foundation in the United States and the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair. Kevin Xu, Chairman of ISRMWR and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mebo Group, as well as honorary chairman of the APEC organizing committee, and Dr. Li Li, Chairperson of the National Rongxiang Xu Foundation and member of the board of directors of Mebo Group, attended the forum. Mebo Group’s headquarters in China and its various branches participated synchronously online in this forum.
The 7th “Regenerative Medicine Forum” continued to collaborate with leaders from politics, business, non-profit organizations, and experts and scholars in the field of regenerative medicine to promote sustainable development. Dignitaries attending included California Senator Josh Newman, former California Treasurer John Chiang, California Assemblyman Phillip Chen, former Speaker of the California Assembly Annie Lam, Senior Advisor of Huacai Commercial Bank Simon Pang, Mayor of West Covina Brian Calderón Tabatabai, Walnut City Councilor Wu Lilun, former Mayor Su Wang Xiulan, among others. Special guests for academic lectures included Dr. Bruno Péault from the University of Edinburgh, Dr. Ron Vogel, President of Rongxiang Xu University of Health and Public Service, and Dr. Winn Hong from the University of Southern California.
This edition of the “Regenerative Medicine Forum” marked the first offline gathering after three consecutive sessions held online. The forum opened in a warm atmosphere, with California Assemblyman Phillip Chen delivering the opening speech and serving as the moderator. Kevin Xu, Chairman of ISRMWR and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mebo Group, and honorary chairman of the APEC organizing committee, expressed gratitude to all those who have supported the development of regenerative medicine over the past seven years. He emphasized the forum’s role as an important platform for exchange, facilitating legislative, administrative, academic, and industrial cooperation in regenerative medicine. Dr. Péault delivered a keynote speech on vascular regeneration based on systematic research, elucidating the application of regenerative medicine techniques in stem cell therapy.
This forum invited Dr. Bruno Péault, Chair of Vascular Regeneration at the Cardiovascular Science Center and Regenerative Medicine Center of the University of Edinburgh, to deliver a keynote speech. Dr. Péault elaborated on the application of regenerative medicine techniques in stem cell therapy, drawing from his systematic research on vascular regeneration and his expertise in tissue development, regeneration, and repair.
Dr. Ron Vogel, President of Rongxiang Xu University of Health and Public Service and a member of ISRMWR’s Advisory Committee, introduced the development history of Rongxiang Xu University, campus construction, teaching scale, and the construction of the Rongxiang Xu Biomedical Innovation Center to the attendees. He highlighted that Rongxiang Xu University annually produces high-quality medical professionals worldwide, expressing admiration for Professor Rongxiang Xu’s immense contributions to human regenerative medicine.
Dr. Winn Hong, former Vice Dean of the Alfred E. Mann Institute at the University of Southern California and President of Mesencyte Corporation, introduced technological advancements in regenerative medicine biomedical engineering from the field of biologic imaging, emphasizing how new equipment and software provide necessary support for the development of regenerative medicine.
Following the forum, ISRMWR organized the 2024 International Regenerative Medicine Day banquet. Former Mayor of Walnut, Su Wang Xiulan, representing California Senator Bob J. Archuleta, presented honorary certificates to Kevin Xu, Chairman of ISRMWR and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mebo Group, and Dr. Li Li, Chairman of the Rongxiang Xu Foundation and member of the board of directors of Mebo Group, congratulating Mebo Group on receiving special recognition from ISRMWR and wishing the group greater success in their future endeavors. Councilor Allen Wu presented a certificate to the Rongxiang Xu Foundation, commemorating the 2024 International Regenerative Medicine Day banquet and celebrating the successful conclusion of the conference.
The 7th International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair Forum, along with the 2024 International Regenerative Medicine Day banquet, came to a successful conclusion. Participants gained better insights into the academic development of wound repair and regeneration and reiterated the importance of continuing research and progress in this field.
Since its establishment in 2018, the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair has held the “Regenerative Medicine Forum” on the last Tuesday of February each year at the California State Capitol to commemorate the late Professor Rongxiang Xu, the founder of human regenerative restoration science, born at the end of February. Over the seven years since its founding, the society has connected resources worldwide and elevated the development of regenerative medicine to new heights through international academic forums, training, and philanthropic actions. Its academic footprint spans countries and regions including China, the United States, South Korea, Greece, Ukraine, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bulgaria, and Ukraine. It has effectively promoted understanding of the field among legislators and government officials, facilitating the introduction of policies supporting research, education, dissemination, and clinical translation. The name of the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair has been engraved on the Bush Presidential Center’s commemorative wall, reflecting its significant impact.
